OT - Winter project tractor

Have you got a vent in that nice high ceiling?

Where can I get one of those snazzy red fan belts? :)

nice
handy little machines, those A's.
capable of more than ya think just looking at em.

hey wait......I thought that crank handle was just to turn the engine a little, so the starter doesn't whack the ring gear in the same place all the time...LOL, just kidding.
good job on a crank start only one.

They are pretty handy NNP, even more so with hydraulics.
I still have a little tweaking to do I think.
When these mags are right they're extremely easy to start.

I was going to keep this one to cultivate the garden, but I have
decided to sell all my hand crank only tractors while there is
still some demand. I have three left, but one (1939 H) I will
convert to electric start because I already have most of the pieces.

Hard to tell, but did you push down on that crank to get it going?
Richard in NW SC who has had a very sore arm in the past

A tip I showed the kids on hand starting. Leave the switch off & close the choke. crank it over 2 compressions, 3 if it is real cold. Then open the choke half way & turn on the switch. The 1st crank over compression , it will fire & keep running. Adjust the choke as needed. I never let them fire with the choke on. Works good with ele start too.

Anyone have a photo of the business end of an NAA starting crank?

I have several in my collection and some have a round pin and some have an oval shaped pin.

The distance from pin to the end and the rod diameter would be good to know too.

Thanks,
T

Sorry, I don't Terry. In fact, I don't own a hand crank for a Ford.
I use the one for my Farmall Cub to turn over my Fords when setting
timing, etc. I've never had to hand crank one of my Fords to start it,
but I assume it would work for that too if needed.

Thanks Royse;
easy enough for me to have a look see.
I'm like a guy with a wrist watch on
asking someone for the time. :D

Here's a great little crank start video where the young man
pulls laterally on the crank. I like the look of that method too.

Nice to have two cranking choices to suit your current physical condition. :)

• pulling upward at the tractor's right
• or pulling laterally to the tractors left
