Oversizing pins on a front end loader

What is the most convenient method to do a decent job oversizing the pivot holes in a front end loader? The holes are quite loose on my Dunham-Lehr 22 causing the clip to come off allowing the pin to work out. It's weird, the pins are not worn very much, just the holes. Will custom make pins to size once the dimension is known.
 
Are there bushings that can be replaced? I doubt that just getting oversized pins will work - the holes will be egg-shaped, not
round.
 
It should have bushings, but if it went through the bushing, and the hole is not round you have to get the pivot hole round again, or your just wasting time/money.
 
Is it the inside of a pipe that is worn large, or is it a hole through a flat plate that is worn?

Really hard to make an egg shaped pipe round again, cut it out and replace, might as well use the original size pipe. You just don't want to go
redrill an egg shaped pipe and try to get round........

Egg shaped hole through a plate, they can be reamed but it's tough work easy to grab or break something, either cutting out a bigger hole and
welding a short pipe of the right size in place of the hole, or just welding a short bit of right sized pipe on the side of the egg shaped hole often
works well.

If it's a different situation a pic might help.

If you want it right you need to search for a local portable line boring service. Lots of them in this area and some work part time at it very reasonably. If your into do it yourself you can fab a boring bar up pretty easily for that type of work. Go to You tube and search home made line boring or similar.
 
What size are the pins? If they are as small as I suspect they are,most line boring
equipment will not bore that small of a hole, At least mine won't. I would carbon arc the
old fits out, machine new ones and weld new ones in. Much easier than setting up to line
bore.
 
The pins in question are the main pivots for the rear of the boom(?) or whatever the main frame of the loader is called. The pins, and this may be a metric thing, are just over an inch, 26mm? The pins fit into tube/pipe that is welded to the frame and the boom. There are no replaceable bushings. No zerks either.

I remember there being step drills of sorts, more like a reamer in a big truck alignment shop. They had a tapered spiral twist on the end. Thought one might be used to open the holes.

Might just select turn pins as large as will go in, install zerks and call it a day.
 
There should be zerks in the center of the tube inside the boom end. Access to zerk may be through the end of the boom, or through a hole on top of the boom. I have 2 of those loaders, and they both have zerks on both ends of the boom.
 
Too many years to recall for sure but I am thinking on my loader that the pins were bolts drilled in from the heads with a cross hole to do the greasing and the missing zerks easly not seen where they should go in head of bolts due to built up grease-dirt. And then possibly painted over that crap.

I have run my hands all over the tube parts and peered down the holes... I see no zerks. There is however, a hole in the topside like it's for grease gun clearance.

I like the idea of through drilling the pin.
 
Bumping this up to ask another question about Dunham Lehr 22 loaders; what is the main pivot points original pin diameter?

I think I have been chasing a spook in regards to oversizing the pins on my loader. It appears the factory pins have been replaced with a pair that are at least .080" too small. The frame holes are actually pretty round and the pins are not all that worn. There is however a lot of slop. Pins removed measure .980". I tried a pin I had turned to 1.060" and it was too loose so I am making some at 1.080" to try.

Also, finally found the (empty) zerk hole. Given where it located is you must need to raise the bucket almost all the way up to access them.
 
The 1.080" pins I made fit with one tight spot on the left side.

Strange that visually, judging form the fit of the pin the holes are very nearly round but are they oversize. Maybe they started out life at 27mm?

I have some with minimal wear that I cam "mic" if I can remember to do that!

Guess honest, lube free wear can result in reasonably round holes then! First day I get home while the suns up and it's not raining I will flap-stick the holes to remove rust and attempt to install zerks and the new pins.
