owatonna parts

Hello,
i am looking for parts for an owatonna item. i would like to find a belt drive variable speed drive sheeve and spring operatated belt drive driven sheeve. mine is on a 1700 owatonna skidsteer, but i would expect it is carried from maybe a swather or something? my belt is about 1-3/4" wide - heavy duty v-belt, drive sheeve is hydraulic operated and driven is spring operated. I am guessing that owatonna sp swathers from early 60"s may have used this system. I would like to see if anyone remembers them or might have a donor unit sitting in the trees that i could buy these parts from.
thansk all.

Owatonna probably didn'tmake the parts you are looking for-you might be able to get them from an industrial power distributor. I've used a lot of varable speed stuff in an industrial setting- try a PT distributor (Kaman, DBB, Motion Industries...)

I"m not saying that you are wrong, but I think the 1530 Case skidloader was the same as the 170 JD, and I think some Owatonna model was the same. The 1730 Case was the same as the 1530, except for a water cooled engine, instead of the Wisconsin. That being said, the gearbox on the Case and JD was out of SD, a Safeguard model. I had the 1530, gearbox went south when an oil seal failed, and I still have some VS sheave parts.

thanks all,
1530 and 1730 case may be the same also? cool, SAFEGUARD is one that i will have to look into then. very cool. I know Owatonna made the deere 170 - have gotten quite a few parts from current Gehl dealer (for Owatanna) and quite a few parts from current DEERE dealer (for 170 Model deere) and they are all the same for this machine - just that the sheeve halves on both ends are not serviced by Deere - haven"t had time to check with Gehl dealer yet! Parts diagrams and parts numbers cross for lots of the parts between Gehl (Owatanno and current Mustang (i guess)and Deere 170) but can be kinda painful on the wallet, so i will look down the case road also, have a good buddy that works parts at the current case dealer. hope to get all systems rebuilt to like-new again shortly! thanks much and will keep looking for more info - everything helps! thanks much.

Two skidloader salvage yards I know of. Farm-Rite in MN 1-888-679-4857, and GD Equip in PA 717-530-0170.
