Hello yet again Dieseltech,

On a completely different note from my Stanadyne question, can you tell me where I could find a 10mm x 1.0 thread version of this tool for use with a Bosch pump? Mine has an 8mm thread and won't thread inside.

Thanks for any help you can be.

The late Bosch VE head plugs changed the thread size so the original tool won't fit. What I did on mine is a redneck cure but it works fine. I use a small red plastic cap plug with the small closed end cut off. Thread the plug into the steel head plug, then I thread my lift setting tool into it and it fits plenty tight enough to set the plunger lift to lock the timing. I first did that years ago when my tightwad boss didn't want to buy the tool it needed for the late steel plugs that seal with a tapered bolt instead of the smaller bolt and washer like the early pumps used. I've used the same red cap for years and keep it with the lift setting gage.

A red plastic cap to produce a redneck cure, essentially a plastic bushing. I like this idea - thanks!
