Paint for 990

We rebuilt the engine on a 990 1976 case david brown tractor
and need to repaint the engine. Where and what would be
recommended for this. Need the orange paint. Tractor supply
have a good match and what is the color code.? Case
orange?

Thanks

Also would anyone have a good grill for this animal. I am having trouble finding one? What do people use for a clutch alignment tool as that also seems hard to find?

Thanks.
Jason

color for that tractor is Case Power Red and Case Power White still available from Case, it is a far better paint than found at farm stores in my opinion

And TSC doesn't have the right color anyway.

Sherwin Williams sells a paint called "Sher Kem" in a color called "Power Orange" which is spot on. About $50 gallon.

As to the grill, 990 ones are available aftermarket for about $170. After the sticker shock, you might want to make one out of a piece of expanded steel.

As to the clutch tool, you can make one on a lathe.

The other way it to use your input shafts as an alignment tool. Remove the top clutch cover, fuel tank etc. Assemble all the pressure plates, clutches etc in order on the trans shafts, slide her together then bolt the pressure plate back to the flywheel. Then you have to slide it back apart about an inch to get the clutch cover back on. Then slide back back together.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I appreciate the help
once again.

I will try the assemble in the tractor as I already have that
cover off. I was not sure there enough clearance but if I back
the clutch pedal off it might go. I was not aware the tractor
had to be split to put the clutch cover on and that seems odd.
Otherwise I have really enjoyed working on this david brown. It
seems very straight forward and is designed well. Easier to
work on than my fords so far.
I really like original so will continue the search for a grill.

Thanks again everyone.

By design it isn't so much a cover, but part of the frame.

There is just a little bit of a lip that hangs up once you have the wedge removed. You could pull the transmission cover if you wanted rather than sliding it back apart that little bit.

Good used DB grills are like searching for hens teeth.

Makes sense. I will just slide it back like you say. Thanks for
all the help. I will post pics when it is done. It is a very nice
tractor.
