Paint gun choices

Looking at painting a couple Massey Harris tractors in the near future and will be in need of a good spray gun. I have the harbor freight options and their black widow line or a devilbliss starter line kit in mind. Something in that 150-200 dollar range. Anyone have experience with these spray guns or other recommendations? This would be used a couple times a year at most. Thanks for any advise or opinions!

if you will be using a tractor enamel and heavy body primers , ideally you need a gun with tips anywhere from a 1.4 to 1.9 tip. the larger size for primers. if you are new to it a harbor freight gun will work ok. if you are going to step up your game and go to automotive urethane base clears, Arnest Iwata make quality guns at a decent price. for a top of the line look at Sata, but you move up to the 1000.00 dollar range.

I used to buy expensive guns and when employees started breaking them I started buying cheap guns like HF sells. What startled me is you could hardly tell the difference in the way a cheap gun and an expensive one functions with most paints. I could only tell the difference when spraying some automotive, especially a metallic base coat. I'm currently using this sprayer and couldn't be more pleased. https://www.harborfreight.com/painting/paint-sprayers/32-oz-siphon-feed-spray-gun-56981.html

As an old painter I have gone from a siphon gun a DeVilbiss which still have 4 from my old shop to2 hvlp gravity feed guns mainly because of the cost of paint & you use 99% of the paint instead of 88% of the paint with a siphon gun. With a little practice you can paint with either one I bought one at H.F. for less then 40 bucks the other at menards same price different brand can see no difference in guns.

That and the much easier cleanup with gravity feed guns. Especially if you grab one of the disposable cup systems. The cheap one from HF works fine for me.
