i am trying to touch up some bolt after i put some wheels on a 520 deere i am using a small brush i am using jd paint and enamal hardner from napa paint seems thin to brush i can only put a little on or i get a run and body know how i could get this paint thicker i thought about adding the hardner and letting it set a while before using it any advise would be helpful

It may be better to use a touchup spray gun. Hal

I have always put a little in a small container then work it around for a few minutes with the little brush until some of the vehicle evaporates, so that it is thick enough to brush without running.

maybe allowing a little paint in a shallow dish to evaporate while stirring occasionally may thicken it up. Hardener won't work.

Yes. Doing what you are doing right now. A small amount of paint in a cup allowed to set will thicken up a touch. Or you can dab your brush until it is fairly dry and then paint the bolt head. Doing it a couple times will cover. Touch up gun will use a lot of paint and require a lot of tape.
