Lumpy, believe it or not most engines don't get hot enough on the outside for heat/paint to be an issue.

You really think they painted tractor of yesteryear then asslembled em? Not they put em together and shot em (eninge and tranny, sheet metal was painted then put on). I remenber seeing new tractors on the lots in the early 70's with overspray on the hoses and belts.

I did a rattle can touch up on the red of one of my 8'n's with paint from TSC. I didn't think the shine was that great so I bought a spray can of clear from Lowes. Looked much better!
