On my 600 restoration I will of course do the correct red,and grey.It is now grey, and blue, yep so many have done this to keep up with the newer models ,but in restoration the original color just really makes an eye catcher. The question is should the generator, and starter be black to bring it back to original? I have seen some with the seat, and spring black.

Here is one from OFT, looks like the seat and engine accesories are black, it sure looks good.

Mine was originally blue for some reason and now is likely a reject from the Shriner"s circus. :~)

i like to paint bolt on stuff like gennies and starters black to make them pop.. but my guess is those items were painted chassis color on the assy line..

Seats were black but starters and gennies were red. The reason you see so many that are black is because they all have to be rebuilt and the rebuild shops are not about to stock every mfg's. color, so they all get done black. Then so many are black that a lot of people think that they are supposed to be so during the paint job they get repainted black.
