painting bake-a-lite

I have a control panel on a John Deere side console with a top that looks like its bake-a-lite. Its a faded black that I scrubed with a scouring pad. Its still a faded black.

What kind of finish can I use to make it look like new? Can I spray it with an enamel paint and call it good?

Just use rubbing compund to clean and then follow with a wax. This is what we do with baklite radios

Use epoxy resin mixed about 20 percent with powered graphite. The results may be rough and very likely will need sanding. The end result will be the worlds toughest finish. It will last forever and be quite attractive.
