Paints.....again

Made some progress this weekend on the 641. Etching primer, then more primer, than first coat of paint. Using Valspar 4431-20 "Ford Red" implement paint. It shoots surprisingly well from a cheap HVLP gun.

Question. I know the correct color is supposed to have a lot of orange to it. Seemed a reddish orange, and "correct" to me during application, but now dried more orange than what it was going on. Check out the pictures below. Is this right for a '58 641, or did I screw up?

Hard to tell, not knowing what your lighting was for taking photos. But it looks really close to me.

Actually, I think you called it.....I didn't even think about lighting. Pictures were under fluorescent lighting tonight. In the day time (when I sprayed it), it had a touch more red to it. I'm just second-guessing myself.

Now will be interested in seeing what it looks like tomorrow...

Thanks,
Kevin

There is a man in Bethel Ohio who does custom tractor refurbishing. His name is Wendel Kelch. His work is more than words can say.
any questions about anything on antique tractors including paint, 513-734-2501 you can also type in his name to see the amazing work that he has completed.

Valspar has made the paint for Ford & New Holland for years & years. If they call that Ford Red, it probably is.

Thanks guys.

And Rick, yes, it is called "Ford Red".

Tonight when I got home I had a lot of good daylight (through the garage door). Color really got a lot redder (is that a word?!?) with the daylight.....my 10-year old son made a fire truck reference. Was working on putting the brakes and the pedal shafts back on tonight and the sun went down. Fluorescent lights on, and she's looking orange. Funny color. I kinda like it.

Now for the temps to come up so I can paint more. Garage is heated and cooled, but it's still only in the mid-50s in there right now. I'd prefer at least 10 degrees warmer.

Thanks,
Kevin

I should have been more specific. The OEM paint sold at New Holland dealerships is Valspar paint.
