Are the linkage rods connected to the wrong gov arms? Short gov arm goes to carb like this

Short link goes to the short arm on the guv. I have to manually wiggle the short link on my '49 to get it to return to idle. The guvnuh needs looking at. I rebuilt everything on and in the engine except the guv which worked flawlessly until the tractor was retired in 2003.

Yep, short to short works on 8n.

Is a link end buggered up, or flatspots on flyballs, or grooves in races, or fork worn flat, or is carb shaft/ butterfly binding, or .....

I saw post #1, that was a what's it? Then #6, was a "generic" picture from OP, maybe it was missing?

Someone also suggested getting a manual, #3......
