Part for 1966 JD400 backhoe

Thank you for taking your time to help. I am looking for a used hydrolic pump drive for a 1966 JD400 backhoe. The part number is T22915T. The dimensions are: 4 and 3/16 in. long. The center point of the two hoses on the front part of the drive measures 2 and 3/4 inches. My problem is that I bought an after market part, but the part is too long and there is not enough room between the pump face and the engine drive. The after maket part has the correct part #, but it is at least 1/4 inch longer that he original part. I have called everywhere that I know of and I cannot find a used one. All I can find is the after markert part that is too long. Since the backhoe is so old, I thought I could find one fairly easily. I can't shave the front or the back end down to make it fit because it will make the unit too thin at both points. The pump size is 3.01 cu. inches. I would greatly appreciate any info. on where I may find a used one. John Deere wants over $200 for the part and the after market is $85. Thanks for your time.

How much do have invested in shipping for the WRONG part, and time wasted, piddling around?

If the genuine part DOES fit, it's a BARGAIN at $200.00, vs. an $85.00 part that DOESN'T fit, or a used part that's 1/2 or more worn out, itself!

Change it over to a newer style coulping. It will cost a little more but will be a lot better.

Don, its been a month since I last wrote this I tried a brand new john deere part and it was 1/4" to long as was the after market part that I tried. I have since then found out that my tractor was only made for about 6 months. So therefore they have changed the design and are still using the same part #. What is required to have it changed over? What are the possibilities of shimming the pumb back 1/4" or changing the engine pully to accept a longer drive? Thanks Ed
