part question

was looking at the manual, early8n, what exactly is part no. Adapter 2N12426 ?...looks like its connected to the spark plug second from the front of the engine...its part 11 on the diagram page 119..I replaced plugs awhile back and do not remember anything like this...is this a needed part ?
 
I believe that is a antifouling adapter. They were used on engines that are oil fouling the plugs. No it is not required.
 
nuguy.......those are "anti-fouling" adapters, handy in the old days for OIL-BURNERS. Oilburners have very low compression and no power. Today we recommend HOT sparkies like AutoLite 437's gapped 0.025" that will BURN the OIL OFF. .......Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister
