parts list

[JD Rookie]

I have a JD 420 crawler, I'm assuming it's a 57 or later because it has a water pump. The serial tag has been removed and I am trying to order the bearings that go on either side of the bull gear. The parts manual has a two different bearings depending of the serial #(pre-141491 and post-141492). Can any one give me an idea on the year in which that happened? Or if the bearings can be identified some way.

Couldn't you take the numbers off of your old bearings and cross referance them ?

Check the casting numbers on the housings to see if they match what you need them for.

I don't believe there are part numbers on the bearing themselves. Also according to the manual the same housing and many other parts were used, but the bearing were different for some reason.

any good parts house or bearing supply can match them up...take entire bearing and race with you and any seals you may need.

According to a s/n list I have the 430Cs started with S/N 140001 in 1958. It does not show last s/n for anything but shows the start numbers for 420C s to be 1956 - 80001, 1957 - 107813, and 1958 - 127782. Hope this info is of some use. You my want to check www.jdcrawlers.com for other info.
