I am looking for people that have Patz 98c Silo Unloaders. Ours is in a 20" silo. We have had it for around 15 years and this past fill it has been creating some problems for us. The unloader decides to drive away from the wall and get all loadged against the side of the silo. I have to pick it up with the cable and reset it. this last time it went about 3 weeks just fine and then it happened again. I am just looking for people who may have seen this before and found out what causes it.

Has your winter been colder than normal?? The frozen silage along the walls will not cut away and can cause the problem you are having. Also check the cutter wheel that runs along the wall. It needs to be sharp and all there. Sometimes some of the cutters will break off. Check the guide wheels opposite the cutter wheel If they are worn or stuck it will cause the unloader to jam side ways.

Not familiar with a 98C, but a 98 and 98B would do that if the center wasn't crowned up enough. Screw the center wheels down three to four rounds and see what happens. All this assumes the 'C' is the same basic style as the older models Dad used to have.
