Yes there is a true National Championship for 4-12 year old children each year. I say true because there is a way that every state can qualify children to attend and it is a non-profit event with a Board of Directors with only the best interest of the children in mind. Currently the National Championship Pedal Pull is held in Mitchell SD at the famous Corn Palace indoors in air conditioned comfort with theater seating. normally the 4th Saturday in September with the qualifying State pulls done by the end of the second weekend in September. Over twenty states currently formally qualify children (their top three in each age group 4-12 qualify) to the National. http://www.nationalpedalpullers.webs.com Last fall we were Hosts as you will see on the site. You bet there is an International Extravaganza Pull for the top 5 finishers at Nationals in Mitchell SD. The top 5 of the US vs the top 5 of Canada. By way of their top 5 finish they are invited to this invitational pull held recently in Fairfield IA by Jeff and Traci, who are part of Hawkeye Pedal Pull out of Southeastern Iowa. Their equipment such as sleds and older tractors are very similar, since Willard Hoskin, also of Hawkeye built them. The National Pedal Pull in Mitchell SD is the Greatest competition in Pedal Pulling, yet the International is a great reward for placing at the National and is the second greatest competition because of who is invited.
