Pertronix high performance coil

I changed out the standard points on my AC D-15 serires 11 tractor to Pertronix electronic ignition. I also bought a Pertonix high performance coil but the elctronic ignition instructions say do not use a HEI coil or it will damage the electronis ignition. Is an HEI coil a Pertonix high performance?

The high performance or flame thrower coils that Pertronix sells ought to be suitable for use with the electronic switch they sell. Those so called HEI coils are more for automotive electronic ignitions I believe, and they may draw more current then the Pertronix electronic switch is rated for.

YOU HAVE TO CHECK WITH PERTRONIX TO ANSWER THIS, we cant answer it here unless we know the current rating of the switch and current draw of the coil.

Unless you want smoke, you best do as John says & check with Pertrinix....they sell MANY different coils under Flamethrower name & some will work w/ your EI & some will smoke it...Pertronix can help you select the right one.

make sure it 12 volt or it will not work i had one for eight years but it went bad you can use an acel coil ask for a d17 coil at oreilly auto parts that for 12 volt conversion
