Did you hear or see what happened to Pets MD, they were raking hay, running like a dream,it dropped a Valve in N0.3 he's got a bore scope and looked in their, it's on You Tube, I have never heard on any brand of tractors of that happening too before!
A friend had a Series 60 Detroit in his semi, gave it a complete overhaul, minus new valve spring, he had to replace spring in that after the overhaul, i remember him telling e that, years ago!!!!!

Saw it - made me sick. I guess the keepers would fly if the spring broke. There are no seals on those stems and he may have re-used the old hairpin clips which are not that great, even when new. That would allow the valve to be sucked down on the intake stroke. At least that was my impression.

It happened to the neighbor's AC D-21 when I was discing with it. Did enough damage to the head and piston that both had to be replaced.

Sad to see that video indeed.:(
I watched the entire rebuild over last winter when time and weather allows.

Seem to remember some question about the source of the springs, but not sure what Pete decided to do. I'd guess it's on the back burner for market season.

I really appreciate the time and effort he puts into sharing his story with viewers, and hope he continues to do so.

I follow his channel and saw that. I hope the damage isn't overly severe. Glad he has other machines available. But yeah, that had to hurt.

unfortunate and sickening experience, but valve springs do fail new or old not always to the extent of dropping the valve.

I am not sure what you mean, did Pete buy sew springs, i don't remember that, so it must of been original springs, I got a MD, also, plan on plowing with it this fall, at the plowing bee,i hope one of mine don't break on the 4 th round,LOL!! I don't think mine has ever been overhauled !!!
