This is what we have hand picked out of the garden - 4 trailer loads! This is what the builder left under the 2 inches of top soil and lawn he laid to finish the house.

David I grew up near Folsom, California (home Folsom prison) They used big dredgers along the river to get the gold out they dredgers left huge piles of round river rock where they had passed by.

I stay at a house one day not to long ago that was built on top of these piles of rock, they just bulldozed them plat and cover them with a layer of dirt.
The owner said if you dig down a foot you hit solid rock.

I told him what it was when I was kid, he then understood why.
