The pin that the lower lift arm attaches to snapped off. Any ideas to access this? Do I need to remove that whole bell housing? Can it be fixed through the pto shaft? Ooof, such a simple thing looks like a can of worms to fix. ANY ideas, greatly appreciated. Cheers!

In similar circumstances or other tractors, the fix is to find a nut with an I.D. a little smaller than the pin, crank up the welder to uber-high heat, and weld the nut through the middle to the pin. Let it cool down fully. There's a good change it'll twist out then. But if not, heat the casting with an O/A torch nice and toasty then try to twist it out. Pretty common method to fix problems like this.

Unfortunately I'm 90% sure those pins on the Dextas are a taper fin with a nut inside holding them into the case (nut & lock washer inside the casting are #51 & #52 in the pic below). Probably a case of popping the trans cover off and reaching down there to undo, then working at it to break the taper wedge and pull it out. Might still require the nut/heat trick to break the taper and get it out if it's really wedged/rusted in there. If so, make sure you use a grade 5 or 2 nut, and really crank your welder up to get good penetration. A grade 8 nut won't take a weld well enough and it'll be too brittle.

Pic below shows the parts book breakdown for it. And this link is the Sparex part number for the replacement pin. Any dealer worth their salt will placve regular orders from Sparex, so it shouldn't be hard to get a new one: https://ca.sparex.com/lower-link-implement-pin-dual-thread-size-cat-66317.html?pred=true

Thanks for the reply and parts link! I suspect you're correct about the taper and nut, I was talking to a mate who said the same thing. Cheers!
