Pintle hitch

What is the best way to setup a pintle hitch for towing a trailer?

I could use a big clevis on swinging or 3PTH drawbar but that
will be sloppy

I searched and found some setups that attach to the 3PTH, they
are $$$

I did not find any bolt-on setups for the draw bar.

What do you recommend/use? Picture?

Thanks in advance

Is this what you are wanting to make? Are you wanting to put this on a tractor? I mounted a 2 inch receiver to my Farmall C so I could pull a 10K dump trailer and use a 2 5/16 ball.

I have no use for this other than to use it as a boat anchor. My email is open if you are interested.

I would tend to agree with Jerry... cut the Pintle off.
Then fab a standard drawbar clevis if this is just for a farm trailer. Personally I don't like messing with ball hitches all that much either.

If you need to maintain the pintle, get a medium duty Holland pintle. I'd probably fab a slip box that will go over the swinging drawbar and mount the pintle to the end of that. Don't put it on a linkage bar because it will restrict the turning radius too much.

I have a grapple trailer with the lunette eye hitch. I bolt the hammer strap to the swinging drawbar on my tractors, and just drop a pin through

I think that is what I'm looking for but would still need to make a 2" receiver to mount on drawbar (?).

I want to keep the pintle on the trailer as it is a heavy beast (M332 ammo carrier, 20" wheels ) and I hope to haul cordwood with it (more weight).

I will send you an email, THANKS!!!

What tractor do you have?? Knowing that would help us be able to help you even more. Not hard to rig something up if you know what your rigging it up on. Do it on say a 9N would be a whole lot different then doing it to one that has a swinging draw bar instead of a 3 point draw bar. I know I rig things like that all the time on many things

I Think if I get the pintle hitch from George I can fabricate a receiver to fit the drawbar from the 12" X 2" receiver blanks that TSC sells. I'd weld some sides on it then bolt it to the drawbar with metal plates above/below the bolt/nut heads

Well since you have the swinging draw bar it is super simple to make a hitch and you should be able to buy every thing you need right in your town. A simple plate that bolts to the draw bar and have it have an L so as to bolt the hitch it it and your done. Doing the receiver would work but be a lot more then you would need

That would be a pretty simple setup. Could probably fabricate
one from some bar stock with a forge/torch and hammer/anvil

I wonder how much more slop/clatter than a real pintle ?

Old, I tried using the tongue of my IH C and bent it. Here is my fix. I like the receiver better. I put at least a ton on the hitch to get enough traction to pull a 10k trailer with a lot of sand and gravel out of an old gravel pit.
