Pipe Rail Trailer Widths

My buddy says all pipe rail trailers are the same width. Mine is 76 1/2 inches. I need about 78 inches minimum for my Farmall H unless I change the hubs around. Are all about 76 1/2
inches??? Thanks, kelly

I believe every one I've seen is 81 inches minimum. Could go to 83 if a custom weld. It's axle width that determines this.

It's what Oklahoma pipeline welders build when the oil patch slows down. They are not bad trailers once you get them home and finish welding them!

Ditto 83'' deck width /102'' outside of tire to outside of tire

Allways been my belief that those are designed for landscapers, don't need the extra width for lawnmowers & weed trimmers. Actual equipment trailers are wider & heavier built, much better suited to haul tractors.

I'm with this man - what in the world is a pipe rail trailer? Some home-made specialized trailer you are supposed to haul pipe on?

A pipe rail trailer uses a pipe; angle iron; or square tubing to build a short wall around the trailer.
Like the sides walls of a box trailer this allows the frame of the trailer to be made smaller; lighter; cheaper; size rails.
Because of the thickness and properties of the pipe it makes these trailers superior in strength to the trailers made with either angle or square tubing.

I would imagine that is a nominal 7 feet but not a true dimension, especially if measuring the inside width. Per DOT standards the overall width of the trailer cannot be greater than 102 which puts a hard limit on how wide a between-the-wheels deck can be. This is why they are all between about 75 and 78 inside width - any wider and there physically wouldn't be enough room for the tires.
