Planing a Tractor Drive

Our club would like to plan a tractor drive. Any words of advice from those who have done this? I am thinking about doing it on a saterday, starting around 7:30am with a light breakfest, start the tractor drive around 8:30, and be back around 11:30 for Lunch, Beer and live music. I think it would be neat to donate all proceeds to a good cause (families that need a hand up ext.)
These are all just ideas that are rolling around in my head and I would like some advice from those of you who have been involved in something like this in the past. Thanks!

been in a few, even though there not a fund raiser, [some people won't be it, because giving money they don't have], don't let that stop your idea, done some of them also. the breakfast is a good idea to start off the day, lunch is also nice to finish off the day after a nice run,, been there, done that,, however, the beer idea, our club doesn't allow beer at any activies, due to club rules, laws, [transporting to and from] don't need to be stopped while hauling, and get in trouble [dui] with the law,,they can drink when they are home and safe.. my opnion of our club runs.

the Montgomery County Antique Tractor and Engine Club in Clarksville TN has one every May for St Jude. We have collected over 22K in 5 years. We ride about 20 miles ant the club has a free feed afterwards.

Thanks for all the coments so far. The club that I am involed with is the Forest city Minn Show in central, Minn. We were thinking about doing it on the same weekend as our spring tractor pull The tractor drive would be on saterday and the Pull would be on sunday. We have had beer at our show and tractor pull for several years now and not had a problem with it, if people have too much they can bring there campers and spend the night. This is all just talk at this point and we need to work out the details to make sure we can make it hapen. Thanks again! Matt

I agree. No beer. I've only been on one tractor ride and the one I was on allowed beer. By the time we got back to home base some of the drivers were much too wild. Jim

oldironlindy- I'm pretty sure I can ID you, and you can do the same for me....raffle tickets?....To the naysayers about beer- beer is available on the grounds during our show, after being voted in the second time the issue came up. It has gone over well, with no problems, and with the German heritage of many of our members, quite understandable that beer and threshing go together. ...nothing was said about it being available while on the tractor ride, and I agree that it should not be.

A ride of just several hours is a very good start, and considering the area and duration, it can be on less traveled roads. A follow-up support vehicle and trailer would be a good idea.

The idea of raising funds for a good cause is excellent- maybe some small participation fee for the drivers, plus whatever proceeds from the lunch and beer stand? Better than just raising funds for our club- good PR. Our communities were supportive when we started- good time to 'pay forward'. Local food shelves are always a deserving, non-controversial charity.

Forest City Threshers club grounds are at Forest City, MN, a few miles NE of Litchfield, MN, on MN Hwy 24. HR west of MPLS. population? IDK, 30-40-50? til Saturday nite when Riverside Store has a band....couple hunnert? or more- gotta be there!

Hey- just re-read your post, ID'd you before I saw.....Matt. Great idea...........maybe I can bring the support trailer!
