does anyone make planter plates for pumpkins.

i have a john deere 25B planter.

plate holes would have to be very large and few of them.

anyone have a idea to used the planter to plant pumpkins.

Thanks,

I have made them for my IHC planter. I had a lot of plates for small round seed that used a spacer plate. I just ground notches in them 90 degrees apart. (4 notches per plate). I just made the notches big enough for 3-4 seeds. They worked great.

Deere has plate number B27436 for pumpkins. I have one but haven't used it yet; I'll be planting in a week or two. This plate must be used with filler number Y2630B with cutoff spring number Y5064B. Contrary to what the eBay sellers would like you to believe, this plate can still be bought new from Deere for less than $40. I've seen auctions go for twice that amount.

thanks guys for your replys,

i did a search after my post
I did see a number of references for jd pumpkin plates with part # and directions.

I have extra corn plates for my 25B, may try to fill some holes with expoy and grind out about 4 holes to fit the seeds and see it it works.

I am just a lazy hobby pumpkin patch farmer, but both big kids and little kids do love my big pumpkins.

How many extra seed are you guys keeping in the seed can to insure the cells are filling? Are any of you having someone brush them in? I'm happy with my Holland 1 row transplanter with the pocket chain removed but if I went to my 246 it would mean I could plant alone instead of having a helper. Thanks.
