Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on a 3 point 2 row planter either runners. Looking at the planter in the picture to plant a small 2.5 acre field, and a food plot. How well do they work, and any other opinions? Thanks a bunch

Will work if all parts are there, millions of acres planted with planters like his,

Just BE SURE YOU CAN GET THE PROPER PLATES
Without the proper plates all you have is a yard decoration,

It's a McCormick IH horse drawn 106 Planter. made from 1926 to the late 30's. Your planter has the homemade three point conversion. IH Plates are easy to get, metal or plastic. The hoppers are richman and the same hopper were used on the cub 172 planter
I have the 102 I pull with a draw bar and the 106 I converted to 3pt. Planted a couple of food plot with it last year and 11 acres with it the year before.
Yours is missing the fertilizer mounts and hoppers and the row marker otherwise look complete. Repo manuals are for sale on ebay and other outlets.
Here is my 102 unit

I plant about ten acers a year with my old I-H planter. I think its a 242 or at least that's the manual I use. My corn just came up this week, doesn't look too bad and spacing is good. I've been using the planter for probably 20 years, paid a hundred bucks for it when I got. Plates are no problem to get and the Highbred seed I use tells what plate to use on the back of the bag.

I've planted up to 5 acres fields with a similar planter. Mine had markers and fertilizer hoppers and a tongue. Had to get off the tractor to raise it on each end of the field. One thing to watch- if it should roll backwards at all when its still in the ground it will plug up the pipe where the seed drops. You can probably guess how I know that.
