plastic baler twine

There was a post awhile back about plastic twine. We never got an answer about recycleing the stuff. So, why can"t this stuff be turned into something else ( insulation maybe) or "reused"? I"m looking forward to some infomation..I hate having to throw that stuff away!

i use it in small piles to get brush piles started burning...idiot wannabee across the road ties barb wire to posts with it,then cant understand why fence keeps falling down :::shakin head:::

It can be recycled, but places that do take it are few and far between. I know of one place in Lancaster County PA that accepts plastic baler twine, netwrap, silage film, drip line, etc for recycling, nobody else within 200 miles that I'm aware of.

Best thing to do with that misserable stuff is to not use it in the first place. I quit using it about 15 years ago and still have it wrapped up in about every piece of equipment that I own.

I believe that you can run the plastic twine through a hammer mill. The fibres, now an inch or two long provide significant extra strength when added to concrete. I thought it was fairly standard practice at the ready mix plants

there's a lady in the latest issue of "farm show magazine" that recycles lots of it.
