Have this seat and was told it was "Ford" but nothing else and cant find a single picture of a tractor with one.

What is it and what year and maker? Figured it was a Monroe seat but not sure.

I also thought it was a later build like the 60s but all the nuts and bolts are square which makes me think it is much older now. lol, I am so confused on this one.

Would love to know to be able to restore it and put it on the correct tractor.

Thanks

Looks like a variation of a Joy Rider seat, they were I believe an aftermarket seat built in Nebraska. My Grandpa had one similar on his Allis Chalmers B. I believe he bought the B on a farm sale in the 50's and the seat was already on it, but anyone who would know for sure is gone. I've never seen a joy rider on a Ford but I'm sure they were available. Bob.

I don't know how to put a link to it but there is a post from Sept 13 2019 titled 1947 2N Aftermarket seat, there's some pictures there. I see yours is missing the crank which is pretty common on the Joy Riders I've seen. Bob.

That looks exactly like the seat on my 1951 IH W-4. When I ordered a new shock, I think the same seat was available for and used on a variety of makes and models. The shock is still available - I bought one maybe 8 years ago. I do not recall the brand name of the seat, but Bob P MN's comments seem reasonable to me.

Thanks for the quick response, using your info I found out it is an early model and the base is what makes it a Ford option. Other companies received the boxed in base or one strictly made for them.

This is fascinating to find out about. I really can't believe I have never seen one of these before.

So it is rare?

And does anyone know if this was optioned for 8N?
