Please help identify this 1960s Ford

Trekker42

New User
I am having trouble identifying this tractor. The 'NN' after the 'C5' doesn't seem to show up on the otherwise helpful guides that I've seen for identifying the year and model of Ford Tractors.

The marking by the right side by brake pedals are:
C5NN 7006 AC
and further forward on the right under the engine are:
C5NN 6015
and on the left, under the seat:
C5NN 4025-D

Any help would be greatly appreciated as we purchased this from a neighbor's estate sale and have no additional information. There seems to be only one range of speeds in the transmission- I wish the ratio was geared down a bit as it goes
pretty fast. The lever by the left foot seems to engage the PTO when the clutch is fully out. I think I have found first gear at the top, furthest right position- that's plenty fast for me, and reverse is top-left. The lever on the right
side of the seat raises and lowers the hitch lifting arms, but it's only active over about 1 of travel from arms fully up to arms fully down. I am hoping that can be adjusted.

Anyway, thanks for any help that you guys can provide. If I can identify the model, maybe I can get get a service manual and at least make routine maintenance a bit easier.

Trekker42 - the numbers you provided are not the ones that determine the model - these are casting numbers. The numbers needed are stamped (not raised) in the frame just above the starter on the flat surface. It appears this has been painted so there may be a large amount of scraping with a wire brush needed. Just looking it appears to be a 2 or 3000. Others can help with the transmission id.

Thanks dleefarms!
I don't think there's a plate there anymore, but I will look again this weekend. From looking at photos online, I'd guessed a 3500, but will get back on Monday after I get another look.

Another neighbor did say he thought it was a '68, but wasn't sure. He also recalled that maybe it was bought surplus from the highway department. But then he said it's been around so long that I just can't recall which tractor is which. It was used mostly to rake a gravel driveway. Our purpose is to run a Woods field mower, though I worry that's asking a bit much of this tractor. It does run great, though.

Close... a little farther back, and higher.
Definitely not a 3500. Like was mentioned, a 2000 or 3000, 1965 to early 1968. Since it has the 4 speed, most likely a 2000.

There never was a plate in that location. The info will be stamped into the casting there. If painted over you will need to clean the paint off to read the info.

There is not any plate there. It is stamped in the flat part of the casting (bell house) where he said it is. Get the scraper and wire brush out and clean the paint off and you'll find it. Then you can come to this site, look on the left side, scroll down till you see serial numbers & look it up'

It's got the round axle trumpets, so it's definitely a 2000. To be absolutely certain, use a wire brush if necessary on the area in the oval in the picture below to get the number stamped there. If it starts with an "L" then it is a 2000, and if it starts with an "N" then it is a 3000.

Thanks to all who replied!

I was at the farm over the weekend and after a bit of cleaning with degreaser I did see the numbers exactly in the location you indicated. I'd have never seen them without you guys- THANKS!

Now my issue is that they are very faint. I used some acetone and a brass-wire brush to get down to pretty much bare metal and am still having great difficulty reading the numbers.

Does anyone have advice / tips / tricks on how to make them more visible?

lay a piece of paper over the area and with a pencil rub back and forth over the area, the letters/numbers should appear in relief.

Difficult to read but model code looks to be 21022A
That would be a 2000 all purpose with gas engine, trans 540 pto and 4 spd trans
6L15B production date mean the tractor was built November 15, 1966 on day shift
Can t read all of the serial number but the C13?? Is correct for a 66 model built in the US
