Can anyone give me a proper length for the top link whenn useing a 2 bottom plow. The one I have on is to long and will not tip the plow down enough to get in the ground. I was not sure if there was a standard size. You can buy them in many different lenghts. It is on my 1949 8N with a ferguson plow. Thanks for the help and have a happy fourth of July.

" Is that 25.5 inch when it is at its shortest or extended."

It can be 25.5 inches extended......or 25.5 inches at it's shortest. Because 25.5 inches is 25.5 inches no matter what the top link looks like when you're done adjusting it.

Do you have any idea when this garden or field was last plowed? Ground may be very hard?

Normally, if the plows are level front to rear when you set the plows on the ground as they are connected to the tractor, you should be at a good starting point.

If the plow points are in good shape an have plenty of negative draft on the front cutting edge, they should suck the plows into the ground and you will have to use the tractor draft control to keep the plows from going too deep.

Most of the time old plows have worn out points and people quit using them or sell the plows as they will not go in the ground.

Worn out plow points are the major wear point on a plow, plow frame may look good, but the plow will not go in the ground.
