So i was wondering if my 65 ford 4000 with 38inch rears would pull 3-16s or should i stick with 3-14s? right now im using a 2-14 but it needs some work done and new shares that i cant seem to find.
so whats your guys opinion 16 or 14?

Depending on soil type/conditions, etc. you might find 3-16's a bit tough to pull effectively. Not saying you can't...just might be tight pulling.

My 4610 has its hands full at times with 3-16's.

Had a 65 4000 and had 3-16" Oliver for it but it was double overbored due to a faulty time trying to bore it first time. Tested 60 HP on pto, also had a 68 4000 standard bore with 3-14" Deere. Both tractors rated at 52 on pto. Had a 65 5000 rated at 63 on pto and pulled 4-14" Massey semi mount with it but if I did not want to spend the time and efert to chainge wheel tread I would hook the 3-16" to the 5000. Mine were all gas tractors. Heavy clay.

We did quite a bit of plowing with a 3 x 14 Kverneland, a 3 x 14 Oliver & a 4 x 12 Ford plow with our "67 4000, our soil is loam/clay/sand, and we rent a clay farm. Some falls when it was wet & slippery my dad put a set of ring chains on to get done plowing, but we never had trouble pulling the plow's in dry times. We overbored the motor at 8000 hrs & it now is showing 2715 (12,715 hrs), although it"s used very little it still runs well.
