Plow size for VA

What model plow(s) were these tractors rated for? I would like to get one some day for my 48' VA and I would like to know encase a opportunity strikes. Thanks.

Jason

A VA should pull two 14" bottoms through average or slightly harder than average soil. It will pull one 16" bottom through almost anything, and will pull three 12" bottoms in light soil and sand (if the plow is mounted). This is assuming a plowing speed of about 3-5 mph., and a depth of about half the width of one bottom. As with most normally aspirated tractors, altitude reduces power and plowing ability.

I have a VCMB 2 btm plow for my 48' VAC. It comes from the factory as 2-12", but you can adjust it to make it into 2-14". Pretty good deal if you ask me. Might work on your VA. Where are you located.? Will keep my eyes open for something. Mike

I wouldn't go with anything more than 2-12 inch plows, if they are pull type such as Case Centennial.

I have 3 VAs. THe best of them will pull 2-10's trailers. It struggles a lot with a 2-12 Eagle mounted. I know my ground is heavy, but tales of a VA pulling 3 of anything.....well, not on my farm.
