Plow wheel spacing

I have a ford 8n and I was wondering what those of you who have one, run your tire to tire spacing at for a 2 bottom 14 in plow? Mine is currently set at 40.5 inside of tire to inside of tire. All the way in.

You have to move them, Center of the tractor to the inside of the wheel should be 25 1/2" for a 14" plow. If you have the manual for the tractor it will tell you in the book how to get that setting. You have to change the front also.

that may beright... the right rear wheel normally runs in the furrow on the second pass, and the rest of the day. If the wheel spacing is right both mouldboards will be turning similar amounts on the second pass. If it is too wide it will leave an unplowed strip. Too narrow one will overlap into the furrow and be moving half the amount.

We had a IH 140 and a AC D15 for plowing. (2 14 1pt fasthitch and 2 14 snapcoupler) The 140 was very sensitive on tire pressure on the right rear - more than 12 psi and it would spin.

First thing, DO NOT measure to inside of tire, measurements are always taken from center of tire to center of tire and that for ALL the Ford 9N, 2N, 8N, NAA, 6xx, 8xx, Ferguson TE20, TO20, TO30 and TO35 are all 52" center of tire to center of tire for all 1, 2 or 3 bottom plows no mater if they are 10", 12", 14" or 16" bottoms. For the mounted plows on these tractors do not pay any attention to the recemonditations for other makes of tractors or models of plows. The mounted plow on the MF 135 or Oliver S55 or 550 use same settings for the Ford. That would also be correct for the 7xx or 9xx or 2000, 3000 or 4 cylinder 4000 as well. The cross bar has to be set correctly for size of plow but that is never changed for use with one of these tractors. If you try to follow the recomended formula and set acording to that from pull type plows you will never get the mounted plows to work. The narrowest wheel tread setting is 48" center to center.

Dave is right. You always measure to the inside of the right tire for a moldboard plow. Most plows, with the exception of high clearance plows, the inside of the tire should be about 25" give or take from the center of the tractor. Most semi mount and high clearance mounted plows are usually about 32" to the inside from the center line.

I will be using a ferguson 2 bottom 14" 3 point mounted plow!
The problem is that I picked up some weights made by roloff in kaukuana,wi and to use these I need my tires set at 52", 64" or 68". I don't see why they would make weights that you can't use for plowing.

Well they will just fit as should be because that 52" is what you are supposed to use for plowing.
