Plowing the Back yard

Tried my plow today after I got done fixing and adjusting it. Ive never plowed with a trailer plow (only used semi mounted) really before so it took some getting used to. Took me awhile to get it adjusted and leveled and the speed right. 3rd gear about 3/4 to wide open throttle worked well to get the dirt to lay over right. A bit fast for the back yard! The bottoms scoured in about as I was done. I pre scoured them with a wire brush and rust-olem rust remover and ATF, took A LOT of prep. Thanks for all the help from the forum on getting it going.

Who advised you to plow that? It was in perfect condition for drilling alfalfa , or no-til beans or corn. What are you going to plant? If you are going to plant hay, grass or alfalfa you have a lot more tillage to do now.

Nice smooth job. Think you'll find that once you get it adjusted, a trailer plow will do a fine job. My experience, better than a mounted one.

You need to go a little deeper with the front bottom. It is not completely filling the previous furrow.

a lawn. needed the soil loose so I can level and grade it. It really is the back yard!

I did end up going a little deeper on the front bottom later on, also moved the plow over just a bit too towrads the furrow and it helped. all part of the learning experience.

I agree on plowing the stuble under. If you would use any lawn prep equipment on the stuble you would end up with piles to get rid of. Jim

OK Understand. So now wait for weeds to pop out a burndown with glysophate; some seed and a cultipacker?

Yep... something like that. I need to change the grade some to get the whole yard to taper more away from the house Probably will turn it over again in a month and try to kill off someore weeds. Looking for other toys to play with behind my tractor now.....
