I have to replace my gas tank on my 8n and was thinking "while it's off" maybe I'll replace those old looking plug wires. The tractor is 12 volt electronic with a true round can from napa and I was wondering ..do I use the original style copper or the newer fancy stuff for plug wires??
Opinions please..

With your 12 Volt system and round-can coil you can run whatever wires you want.

Nothing wrong with staying with solid-core wires, or if radio noise is a problem, RF suppression wires will be just fine.

Or, get premium wound wire core wires and have the best of both worlds... low resistance AND RF noise suppression.

Blitz.......use the universal coppercore sparkie wire kit, cut to fit. The "premium" kit is for sphincterly challenged self-appointed originality inspectors. Strictly a visual thing. When I put new sparkie wire in my eazy starting 6-volt 52-8N, I bought a "hot-rod" copper wire kit for Pontiac V-8 so I have nice rubber right-angle booties under the tank. There is nuttin' sacred about sparkie wires except NEW INSULATION is so much better than "original" woven cloth covered sparkie wires ......Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

I followed Tip #27 this weekend and have a sweet solid core Accel spark plug wiring harness now, the tractor never idled so smooth!

Tnx for the follow-up!

I've bought tractors w/ some of the d@mdest wiring you'll ever see. I guess Henry designed a good tractor to run off of that mess!

my great grandad had 2 wires on his old farmall H that were baling wire wrapped with a strip of old innertube. it missed a little..........
