I have weak spark on my z134 too.Can someone tel me if is a difference in these plugs autolite 3116 and champion d16 or d21.
tanks.

serge.

I use the 3116 in my to-35 but that would not be the cause of a weak spark,

I am not a expert, but do a search on the forum, much as been written about how to solve the weak spark problem.

what solved my weak spark problem: new points, plugs, condensor and replaced coil
napa sells good quality tuneup parts.

be sure you have copper core wires, no cheap stuff.

also check all your connections, they can look good but have corrosion.

good battery (battery cables should be #1 wires) and properly working charging system

let us know what you find wrong with the system.

The Autolite 3116 is a non-resisitor plug and it"s what you want to use on your tractor. I don"t know about the Champions you mentioned but go to the Champion website and look it up.
If your spark is weak, the primary ignition circuit is most likely the problem. It could be the battery, the keyswitch, the solenoid or starter switch(I think your tractor has a solenoid instead of a starter switch activated by the transmission lever) the coil or the points and finally the ground. Most commonly the problem is the points. They can corrode or get oil on them.. Take a piece of a brown paper sack and put it between the point surfaces and pull it back and forth to polish them a bit. The check to make sure that they set at 0.022" . If you don"t know how to do that look it up in the archives or get back here. Make sure all the connections are correct. Do you have a 6V or a 12V system? You coil must match your system voltage and be properly grounded.

Try reversing the low tension leads on the Coil to see if the spark is any better, they should have been reversed when the Tractor was converted to 12 volts, but maybe they weren't. Just use the configuration that gives you the best spark. Have you changed the Condenser, if you don't know when it was last changed, get a new one. They recommend changing the Condenser each time you change the points or if they develop a spike or a hole in the Contact faces....John
