point plug gap

BIL ask if me what the point & plug gap was for his mewly purchased 41 b john deere was. so i said i would try and find out. thanks

On the left side of this page is a tune up specs guide. It shows .015 for an old b

Spark plug gap is .030.
Most people favor Autolite brand spark plugs in these tractors.
"Points" gap in magneto is .015.
Gapping the spark plugs any wider causes heat build up in the magneto coil, and eventual failure.
Also, be sure to use solid wire spark plug wires.

dad use to say set plugs with a thick nickel and points with a thin dine. that was when i was a kid am now 85 years old try it will work on them old ones
