Points Adjusting Screw

Anybody know where I can get the points adjustment (eccentric) screw for a front mount distributor? Mine is missing. I looked in the parts manual, but I don't see it listed. Thanks!

It's a "cam", and not exactly a "screw", as it has no threads and is staked in place and was never considered a "field replaceable" part.

It's not real tough to tweak the points around to set them without it, if you must have one, your choices are to replace the breaker plate with a modern reproduction part, or source a good used one, perhaps on ebay.

This very site has them.

I have NOT bought one from this site, and can't vouch for the quality, good or bad, but do be aware that wherever you buy a replacement one, it may be from "The Land of Almost Right" and not be an exact/perfect copy of the original.

That explains why I couldn't find it in the parts manual! Thanks. Not that important, just thought if one could be had easily I'd get it.

As Bob said, it's easier to adjust the points w/ it, but you can set them w/o it. I have 2 Model A Fords that I use Ford V-8 points in & adjust them w/o the eccentric screw.

If you do decide to go with an after market breaker plate, I got one from Just 8N's (before I know about this site). It works well, but I did have to do some filing around the edges to get it to fit.

I'm sure I got one in a box somewhere and would happily send you one on the house. Can't cost that much to ship. It's a hunting rural place and I;m going there tomorrow, can bring one back if you wanted it? Email should be open.

Thank you! I sent you an email with my mailing address.
