points are set to 0.015 and plugs are set to 0.025

If you don't have one, I strongly suggest that you pick up a I&T FO-4 repair manual for your 8N. It's an invaluable resource, and among other things, will show you how to time the front mount distributor.

k ohls.........the 1949 8N is a 4-nipple frontmount distributor that you remove (2-bolts, 15-min job) and adjust the points (0.015) on your kitchen table. The frontmount distributor is driven by an "off-set" tang scheme and can NOT be installed outta time. Just finger start the 2-bolts and twirl the rotor 'till it drops into place, then finish tightening 2-bolts. NO FORCE needed. Simple, eh?

The squarecan 1-terminal ignition coil is clippie mounted and needs the dangle'n springy-thingy stretched so it securely meets in the hollow-headed points screw.

You do NOT haffta remove the 4-nipple cap, just un-clippie and letter dangle.......HTH, Dell yer self-appointed sparkie-meister
