I like to shut the gas off and let it starve out... However.. as long as gas is shutoff and you use it pretty regularly.. i don't think it hurts it a bit to leave the bowl full..IMHO

Not going to go to the poll but it works out as a catch 22. If you empty it you can/will get condensation in the carb. If you don't the gas goes bad and varnishes up so either way its good and bad. Now if you have a tractor like one that I have if you don't drain it and leave the drain open in the winter you end up buying a new carb for it at $500 plus just for a carb. BTDT and learned the hard way on that one tractor

I use mine a lot so I just shut off the gas when I'm done and open it up when I use it next. Usually never goes more than two or three days without getting used.

Shut off the gas when done for the day. Leave it on during frequent stops/starts. Never drain the bowl on the carb. unless Iam cleaning it.

I turn mine off and run it dry. Been doing it for over a year...

4 tractors, 6 ATV's & for many (>20) years use the practice of turn off at end of day & only run dry if not to be cranked again within the next month. Dry in a cast iron carb=condensation & rust. Let set long enough for gas to evaporate=varnish. Your choice.
If you are in a very cold climate, you can't afford to have water in the bowl, period!

After rebuilding dozens of MS carbs I will never run the bowl dry. You can cope with the gum that may or may not in a full bowl but the rust and scale that develop in a bowl run dry is a definate repair item.
