No sealant I tried gave totally perfect results. While Sikkens did seal its mechanical bond was poor , so any flex threatens to compromise it .
Check break mentioned welding it , I don't have the gear but I do have many soldering irons .
I used a few to initially join the sections and more importantly the end caps , then a larger one to smooth over the unions .
The results were excellent, good mechanical properties and a total seal. I followed up.with Sikkens as a back stop in case of minor pin holes .
All in all a quite satisfactory solution to an annoying problem .
