If you decide to paint castings with a brush spend some money and buy the best varnish brush you can buy - the end product is so much better in terms of the brush strokes being visible.

I have used Devilbiss starting line paint guns. You can get a kit with a paint gun and a Primer gun for around 200 bucks. It might be a little out of your
price range but it is a good starting gun to learn with. Ive moved onto their higher end guns that really work well. But you can do anything you want
with starting line guns. You want to make sure you have a big enough air compressor to handle the job. I think the gun you buy will tell you how much
airflow you need. as others have said its 90% preparation and 10% painting. It might seem a little overwhelming but you just gotta jump in and start.
Do as much research as possible and make sure you read the paint can labels.

It's going to be awhile yet before I'm going to paint anything, but I figure it couldn't hurt to start looking around. My dad works with a professional painter who paints WW2 aircraft parts. he has given me some advice but I thought I'd ask people who have painted tractors. The conventional spray gun I was looking would cost me about $50 and The compressor with enough power to work with the gun would be $460. Would one of those guns that you just plug into a extension cord, pour in some paint, and turn it on work for tractor painting? I do not want showroom quality but I do want it to look good. Being 15, money is somewhat hard to come by so I thought if I could use one of those $60 electric guns would do the trick, I'd use one of them. Would one of them be able to get under the tractor or would the paint flow back into the motor? I've seen people painting cars with them and getting good results but you don't have nooks and crannies and the underside to paint on a car. Advice anyo

JD2 said he doesn't have a lot of money.
So you guys tell him to:
1: Use $100 a quart paint.
2: Buy a $200 starter set of spray guns.
3: Have a body shop do the painting.
