Within the 1947 Massey Harris Pony transmission I have three forward gears, a small, medium and large, which slide back and forth along the drive shaft to engage the desired gear/speed. I hade trouble with my Pony being stuck in reverse. I removed the cover plate and manually adjusted the gears to engage forward. The large gear moves independantly while the small and medium gears seem to move as a unit, and will only move toward the rear of the tractor when matched up with the large gear, but will move to the front as a pair, without the large gear. Is this correct? Do I have an issue with the gears? Is this corrected when the transmission forks are in place? Any Pony transmission experts out there. I can"t find this info in my service manual.
