Has anyone had any luck with a corn picker for popcorn? I am growing a very small eared corn--smaller even than Ladyfinger--and I would like to grow more, but that would mean harvesting it mechanically. Some pickers, like New Idea, do not have snapping plates on top of the rolls in the head, so I'd worry that those would spit those little ears right out onto the ground without even removing them from the stalk.
I read a manual for an Allis Chalmers 66, and it has settings for popcorn. I would consider that, but I prefer to dry on the ear if possible. Has anyone here run corn through their Allis Chalmers?
Any suggestions or recommendations?
