Porsche tractor

I was at an event last week that had about 40 collector tractors in addition to everything else. There was a 1960's vintage Porsche diesel tractor that caught my eye as it looked very different from US made tractors. It appeared to be air cooled 3 cylinder but the really unusual thing about it was the injector system. It appeared to have one pump for 2 of the cylinders and another pump for the single remaining cylinder. Does anyone know why?

Funny the topic of Porsches should come up. A friend who knows I'm into old tractors told me of a local farmer, now deceased, who collected only Porsche tractors. Seems his emphasis was more on collecting tractors rather than actual farming, which caused some disagreements with his wife. I've been to many tractor shows, have yet to see even one Porsche tractor, much less a whole collection of them. Can't help with the injector pump question.

They had a one and two cylinder version of that engine, looks like when they made the 3-cylinder version they used an injection pump from each and tied them together with a little linkage!
