I am wanting to install a spool valve on a ac 175 gas to operate a loader. Where would be the best place on the tractor to plumb this? Thanks

I'm assuming you want a dedicated 2-spool valve for the loader itself, leaving the remote levers for the rear outlets free to operate other things, correct ??? If so, I always try to mount this additional valve to the right of the throttle between the fender and the hood. This way you have your left hand free to shift the transmission while operating the loader. A brace or bracket bolted to the fender and to the side of the hood will suffice. You do what you want. The new valve you want to use is called an "OPEN CENTER" type hydraulic valve rated for 2500 psi. This valve needs to be capable of a "POWER BEYOND" fitting on the "OUT" port of the valve body. Not all open center valves are able to do this, but that is what you must have. The hydraulic pump for any 170 or 175 could be located under the radiator (later model) or out the right side of the torque tube where a belt pulley would have been decades ago (older models). There are three steel lines exiting the hydraulic pump regardless of its location. One of the lines is smaller than the other two. Ignore that line, as it is for the Traction Booster system. The remaining two lines either go to the power steering control valve in the dashboard area, or all the way back to your hydraulic valve stack on the right side. So, locate the steel line from the tractors hydraulic pump that goes to the hydraulic valve stack to the right of the seat. Your goal here (however you want to do it) is to send oil thru a line or hose or hose and line together from the pump to the INLET of this new loader valve. Then, run another hose or line or hose and line together from the POWER BEYOND/OUT port to the tractors valves to the right of the seat. In a nutshell, you are sending oil to the tractors stack like always, you just go thru the new loader valve first. There is one more little detail: on this new Power Beyond valve, there is one small drain outlet port. You need to make a hose to fit into that port and drill a hole in the side of the sump under the belly and return this small amount of oil that bleeds out of the valve spools. If you don't do this, the spools will eventually start leaking oil because of not being vented. I do not know exactly what age your unit is I can't be any more specific as to where to get in to.
