Power for spring tooth?

I'm looking at an 8-9' (3 section) spring tooth harrow, modified to be 3 point. It has 25 tines. My plan is to use it after I double disk crop residue to smooth the soil for planting, and keep the fields weed free until I'm ready to plant, covering more ground with each pass than the 6' disk would, and hopefully with a little less tractor effort. I will also use it to "tickle in" small seed like millet before cultipacking.

With obvious variations as to soil moisture and texture (I have sandy loam), how would pulling this compare to pulling the (Tractor Supply heavy model) disk behind my 8N? Probably weighs around 400#. Ample power?

You can generally adjust how much "dig" you are getting on those old spring tooth drags.
You might not be able to set it to dig to the max without more ballast or HP. But your N will still do a lot of weed control or finishing with it.

I figured max depth would be a challenge. I"m waiting now on a call to see what they want for this piece of equipment. Under $300 I hope.....

I can pull a 2 section in heavy clay with the spring teeth full down, so you should be OK with a 3 section in sandy soil with it set low enough to do lots of work, even if it may struggle a bit with'em fully down.
