Power steering leaking

What do people do with the power steering
cylinder leaking on a 900 series I just
got a 971 it just runs out everyone I have
owned leak a little where the cylinder
goes casing.

Do you mean where the rod goes into the cylinder?

If you can ID the cylinder, order a seal kit for it and rebuild it. A lot of the smaller cylinders take a spanner wrench to thread the cylinder head out (sometimes called a gland). If you can't ID it, then disassemble it and start matching up the seals you need. Hercules might be able to help, a local hydraulic shop, or possibly your local John Deere or CAT dealer, they usually have the ability to match up seals better than most other equipment places. Then again, if you don't mind spending the money, you could drop it off at a hydraulic shop and let them take it from there.

I have a 971. It did leak. I got it fixed. It depends on where it is leaking from. there are three different likely places.

Yes from what I have been told all you Can
get at is the dust seal the rest are
internal cylinder has to be cut to get at
those and maybe a new ram.

Agreed.

Cylinder is not designed to be rebuilt and must be cut open to properly repair.

Most are badly worn inside due to water contamination and failure to regularly replace the filter in the reservoir.

Replacing the shaft seal might correct leakage at the shaft but will do nothing for internal leakages.

There are folks who can cut the cylinder open and properly rebuild it. Not cheap.

Yes, I have the parts for those.It will require a little surgery on the end where the seals are to take it apart and check the piston and rod, ring, and replace the gland seals, then install a sleeve that has a threaded cap for the next service.

A threaded cap is a good idea! I knew about your service but not about this.
