I was leaking fluid out of my power steering cylinder
so I pulled it out to repair. While taking it out one of
the fittings became damaged. Im not sure how to
repair the line. The metal line ties into the braided
hose in what I think is a compression fitting but it
appears its been covered in jbweld so I cant tell.
Looking for some advice. Its a MF285 diesel.

The hose fittings are crimped to the hose. The end with the steel tube is a special end fitting which the tube is part of, no compression fitting there. From the looks of the second picture, you posted, someone severely over tightened the swivel JIC female fitting nut on the hose and broke the ring that retains it to the hose and allows it to swivel when tightening. It appears the hose nut is on a male O-ring Boss (ORB) to male JIC adapter.

One of the methods of replacing that hose would be to have a new hose made with the same end as the broken nut on one end and a hose end with a compression fitting on the other end you can attach the tube with after you cut the tube off. You may need the hose to be a bit longer as you need to get to a good section of the tube for a compression fitting to hold. If there is a good hydraulic shop near you, take everything to them and see what they have for parts they can duplicate it with.

You might be able to get a new line from Massey Ferguson. There are two parts books for the 285. One for prior to serial number 9A349239 + 9B. And the other is for serial number 9A349239 and up. Does your 285 have a cab? You can access the online MF parts catalogs at the AGCO site. Here is a link.

On that homepage click on Search by Parts Book. A new search box will open, type 285 in the box and in a few seconds there will be a list of machines with 285 in their titles. You can check the box beside Massey Ferguson on the left side of the page to reduce the list. The 285 choices should appear near the top of the list. With the right parts book you should be able to pick out your hose and get the part number. We would need the serial number and where both ends of the hose attach to help you much more.
