what is the easiest way to put p.s. on this tractor

The easiest way is to buy a kit from Jackson Power Steering.

An alternative is to find a 6x1, 8x1 or 4 cylinder 2000 or 3000 with power steering, swap the PS components to your 641, the non PS components to the donor tractor and sell the donor tractor. If you are patient you can probably perform this swap for a net cost of nearly $0, exclusive of your time.

While Dean is correct, in my mind the best way is to find a decent running machine with good PS and buy it then sell yours. Or buy the Jackson PS system. Monkeying around with the old stuff will get you PS, but you will probably have to repair and rebuild some to most of the components. I "thought" I was going to be bucks ahead just rebuilding my factory system that was lacking a pump vs buying the jackson system. I was wrong!!

replacement PS pump was $$$ and it needed TCL $
Cylinder needed lots of $$ as it was rusty inside and needed boring.
Valve needed $ for rebuild
Needed to build hard lines
Needed to have soft lines made custom and with the goofy ford fittings it was $$

Add that all up (plus the cussing and fussing) and it would have been cheaper (and much faster) to go with the "expensive" Jackson system. Once again, I have experimentally proven that the cheap way -- ain't!! And NO, I don't have any affiliation with Mr. Jackson but have emailed back and forth a few times. Seems like a kind and helpful gentleman.

Plus The Jackson is a true hydrostatic power steering and not power assist as the original units were.

Put a Char-Lynn 'Torque Generator' on it. $400 bucks for the unit plus another $100 for the lines and misc and you're done.
Clean, easy, cheap, and MUCH less maint.

Also depends on what you use the tractor for.
If it is just a worker I would go the modern way and get the Jackson or Char Lynn. If you care how it looks do as Dean says.
I did that with a 3000. Bought a running beater, swapped steering, rear tires, radiator and front bolster and sold it as a running beater. Just about broke even including a trip out of state to fetch it. Not counting my labor. PS on a 1000 series is much more common than on an 01 series so your search for the doner will be much harder. Keep that in mind.
